‘MALBOT’ An Intelligent Dialog System
MALBOT is an intelligent dialog system that can be used as a front end of many application systems. In this paper we present MALBOT as a natural language dialog user interface for an information retrieval system. MALBOT employs natural language processing technique to extract the meaning of the user’s input sentence. The dialog manager manages dialogs between the user and a computer. Then the u...
متن کاملPragmatic Representations in Iranian High School English Textbooks
Owing to the growing interest in communicative, cultural and pragmatic aspects of second language learning in recent years, the present study tried to investigate representations of pragmatic aspects of English as a foreign language in Iranian high school textbooks. Using Halliday’s (1978), and Searle’s (1976) models, different language functions and speech acts were specifically determined and...
متن کاملRobust methods in automatic speech recognition and understanding
This paper overviews robust architecture and modeling techniques for automatic speech recognition and understanding. The topics include robust acoustic and language modeling for spontaneous speech recognition, unsupervised adaptation of acoustic and language models, robust architecture for spoken dialogue systems, multi-modal speech recognition, and speech understanding. This paper also discuss...
متن کاملDialog Act Modeling for Automatic Tagging and Recognition of Conversational Speech
We describe a statistical approach for modeling dialog acts in conversational speech, i.e., speechact-like units such as Statement, Question, Backchannel, Agreement, Disagreement, and Apology. Our model detects and predicts dialog acts based on lexical, collocational, and prosodic cues, as well as on the discourse coherence of the dialog act sequence. The dialog model is based on treating the d...
متن کاملSpoken Language Processing in the Hybrid Connectionist Architecture SCREEN
In this paper1 we describe a robust, learning approach to spoken language understanding. Since interactively spoken and computationally analyzed language often contains many errors, robust connectionist networks are used for providing a at screening analysis. A screening analysis is a shallow at analysis based on category sequences at various syntactic, semantic and dialog levels. Rather than u...
متن کاملCommand Speech Interface to Virtual Reality Applications
During last five years several attempts to develop the speech interface to especially simulation applications emerged due to the recent improvements in speech and language technology and the complexity of those application’s interfaces. We describe our approach to control Virtual Reality applications via voice and GUI, in creation of simple multimodal command speech interface based on dialog mo...
